What Kind of Traveller Am I?

I moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada when I was 13 years old and was resistant on calling it home for a while, but I am now happy to say Chilliwack is my home. I have always lived in small farming towns that are more outdoor oriented than big city shopping oriented. Experiencing the  drastically different season in the East coast of Canada verse the West coast has greatly influenced my love of being outdoors no matter the weather. I particularly like to be near a body of water, exploring in the mountains, or getting lost wandering around town people watching.

I am proud to be Canadian and am happy it is my home country. My maternal grandmother is Italian and my grandfather was Hungarian, with Spanish roots. My paternal grandmother was German and my grandfather was French with some Spanish roots as well. I associate mostly as Italian especially when it comes to food and I resonate a lot with the gypsy life style. The mix of different cultures and traditions I grew up learning about has influenced the type of traveler that I am.

I am a 21 year old Generation Z, single white female in my fourth year of university, with a full time job selling eyeglasses. The Canadian Explorer Quotient quiz and my own self assessments state that I am cultural explorer. Cultural Explorers are always on the move trying to immerse and understand the nature, history, and local culture of a new destination.

I love doing puzzles, star gazing, reading, snowboarding, ice skating, hiking and the most recent interest is gardening. I am a happy, easy going, compassionate person.  A recent road trip I took was to take my grandmother to see Banff and the Rocky Mountain range for the first time.

The last vacation I went on was a short weekend get away to Whistler, with four of my close friends. We stayed out late the night before just having fun bars hoping. Nothing too eventful, just a classic 20 year old girls trip behaviour. The next morning while everybody else was trying to sleep their hangovers off, I got up early to go get some food. Sadly the whole village was still asleep besides the few people going for early morning runs. I got to the end of the village by the chair lift and decided I wanted to get a better view of the village and the sun that was barely peaking its head over the mountains. On a complete whim I started up the mountain looking back every couple minutes to watch the sunrise, about 30 minutes in I took the photo at the top of the page. I just kept hiking with no destination until the mosquitos got a little too hungry and I decided to turn back down.
